REVIEW: Nash BP-12 Fast Drag reel

RRP: £87.99 | www.nashtackle.co.uk

The Nash BP-12 Fast Drag is the big daddy of the BP range, offering mammoth line capacity and big cranking power.

Make no mistake, this is a big-pit reel like they all used to be – big and tough.

Looks-wise, it’s bang up to date with a matte-black finish and very understated graphics. The one-touch folding handle and isotope-recess in the handle knob will definitely appeal to fashion-conscious carpers.

 It certainly looks the part

The long-cast spool holds more than 770m of 0.28mm line, or more than 350m of 0.40mm line, meaning these reels are ideal for rowing baits out to huge distances on vast European venues.

The spool is made of aluminium but this remains a reassuringly heavy reel. Six ball bearings offer smoothness, while an oversized bail arm fights line twist.

There are two line clips and a line-guard system to stop the line going ‘behind’ the spool.

If you’re looking for a long-range workhorse, this sub-£90 offering is well worth a look.
