The streamlined Gemini ARC helicopter lead system is one of those rare products that really makes a difference to your fishing, says Carpfeed tackle editor Marc Coulson...

Used widely in sea angling, Gemini’s new ARC system has hit carp fishing with a bang.
The drag caused by having a rig attached makes a huge difference when it comes to casting distance potential but, if you can secure it in a straight line, this drag is greatly reduced.
So, how exactly does the ARC system work? Behind the lead sits a small collar and a compact clip, into which you place the hook before casting.
As the lead hits the water the collar is forced up, which releases the clip and allows the rig to come free and slide up to the top bead.
The rest is set up as you would normally with a heli rig.
The ARC is supplied in sets of five costing £12.99, and while you might say they are a little over-packaged, the natty tin will surely come in handy afterwards.
There are three colour options – Silt Brown, Sand Brown and Weed Green – and each is supplied in sets of 3oz or 3.5oz, as well as a mixed box with leads from 2oz to 3.5oz.
My initial tests of the system have produced some extremely pleasing results, with genuine, significant gains being made on casts.
SELDOM do new products hit the market that genuinely add something completely fresh to the logistics of carp fishing.
Well, this ingenious little device does just that. As well as adding many yards to your casts due to the all-but eliminated drag, it also affords the peace of mind that your rig will be reaching your spot untangled.
A fabulous concept.
HOW IT WORKS
The ARC system can be used with any type of hooklink, at any length. To set it up, all you need to do is pull the collar up, put your hook into the slot, and pop the collar back down again to secure the hooklink.
By setting the bottom bead on the leader at the exact length of the hooklink, the latter remains extended and streamlined on the cast.
Once the lead hits the water on the cast, the collar is forced open just enough to allow the hook to come free, and your hooklink to follow. It works every single time...without fail!
The Gemini leads can easily be switched mid-session by incorporating a quick-change clip at the bottom of your chosen leader.
