Forget Magic Trees or a squirt of Fabreze, a new fishing-related air freshener might just be the best Christmas gift for carp anglers with stinking cars.

Hook, Line & Stinkers (we see what they did there) are sweet-smelling ‘boilies’ on the end of a hair rig.
Hand-tied in the UK by Camo Carpers, they are the brainchild of angler and actor Peter Cadman, who has appeared in Hollyoaks and Coronation Street.
He told Carpfeed: “I’ve been fishing since I was 18 and I’m 40 in December. I’d always thought with some boilie flavours ‘I wish they did an air freshener of that’, and I was actually ill in hospital when I decided to go for it and create these.
“I was working with Robson Green on set and I showed him – he thinks they’re a great idea.”
Available in tangerine, blueberry, strawberry and pineapple flavours these are not just one-use wonders. Refills – that look very similar to PVA stringers – are also available.
We have hooked some over our rear-view mirrors to test them out and can report a couple of findings. They’re heavier than most paper/card air fresheners, so they can swing around a bit, but shortening the ‘hooklink’ will stop that if it becomes a problem.
Also, the loop isn’t large enough to fit over the whole mirror, so you’ll have to pull the ‘bait’ back through the loop and attach it lasso-style.
All the flavours give off a lovely scent without being overpowering or too chemically – they will easily mask the smell of damp fishing kit!
At the moment the air fresheners are only available at selected tackle shops and on eBay, but Peter tells us a full website is in the pipeline.
Future plans include more flavours, including possible real boilie scents.
