REVIEW: Avid Exodus carp rods [VIDEO]

Avid Exodus rods could lay a claim to being the best budget carp rods for 2019. We take a look at these new arrivals…

RRP: £44.99 (10ft) and £54.99 (12ft) | www.avidcarp.com

As part of the Preston Innovations family, and as a carp brand in its own right, Avid knows a thing or two about creating decent fishing rods.

 They certainly don’t look cheap

What the company has done with the new Exodus range is attempt to create the best carp rods for the lowest price. With the range starting from just £44.99 it appears Avid has given this its best shot.

In all honesty, you would struggle to tell that these rods are at the lowest end of the market just by handling and inspecting them.

 The Exodus rods look great

All the touchstones of modern carp rods are there – narrow blanks, integrated line clips, understated graphics, quality rings and laser-etched butt caps.

A secure reel seat is all part of the package

The Exodus lineup is also a varied range, with a 10ft 3lb version, and 12-footers with 3lb, 3.25lb and 3.5lb test curves. There’s also a matching spod/marker rod so you all you kit can match.

Sure, in carp fishing as in life, you get what you pay for. But even if you pay full retail price (which we imagine you won’t), you can pick up three 12-footers and a matching spod and marker rod for just £220.

 Quality eyes as standard

It’s a well-worn cliché that these kind of rods are ideal for beginners or those getting back into the sport, but we’d be happy to add that they’ll perform just fine if, like most carpers, your angling exploits aren’t too extreme.
