FIRST-LOOK REVIEW: The Rod Hutchinson range [VIDEO]

Rod Hutchinson Cooked Particles

RRP: 2kg £8.99 | 3kg £11.99

This new range of pre-cooked particles removes all the hassle of having to soak and cook your own at home.

The perfect loosefeed for big carp in spring, they are available in 2kg standard packs in Natural Hemp, Chilli Hemp and Particle Mix versions, and Gourmet 3kg bags of Mulberry Mania, Spod Mix and Stinky Fish.

They are supplied in resealable bags (with carry handles) to ensure maximum freshness and all the baits are PVA-friendly, meaning you can use them in mesh or solid PVA bags as well as feeding them via spod or Spomb.

Rod Hutchinson Dream Maker throwing stick

RRP: £64.99

Any product bearing Hutchinson’s iconic ‘Dream Maker’ tag has to be a bit special, and that’s certainly the case with this exceptional carbon boilie throwing stick.

It’s ridiculously light, weighing only 56g, which will help to reduce the fatigue normally associated with using a throwing stick for more than a couple of minutes, and has a reinforced tip area – often a weak spot on many throwing sticks.

It also comes supplied with a neoprene carry case.

A larger version designed for boilies up to 20mm in diameter will soon be available – just the job for those Euro trips.

Rod Hutchinson Sceptre Rods

RRP: from £64.99

The Sceptre rods are Rod Hutchinson’s new ‘entry-level’ options, but don’t be fooled by their wallet-friendly price tag, because they handle like carp wands from a far higher bracket.

The collection comprises two 12ft models (3.5lb and 3lb test curves), a 10ft 3.5lb version and a 9ft 3lb rod (plus a spod/marker rod).

Constructed from 24T reinforced carbon, they have a matt finish, lightweight SiC guides, an abbreviated handle with anodised collars  and black whippings with emerald trims.

Only when you rig up the Sceptres and punch a lead out does the appreciation really start to grow.

While retaining plenty of power, the blanks are easy to compress, making them perfect for people who struggle to cast any distances, and they’re a joy to play fish on.
