A lot of clout for sub-£80

There used to be a collection of reels in the Crosscast range, now there's only one. But what a reel it is.

It's a 5000-size big-pit reel (sadly there's no 5500 or 6000 in this corner of Daiwa's 2018 product range) which manages to do something few others can at this price point.

It looks the business. Sprung line clip very handy

It has somehow pulled off both great looks and great features. Most £80 reels struggle on at least one of these counts.

You can judge for yourselves about the looks from our exclusive photos here, but we think it gives off the air of a much more expensive reel.

Quick Drag for under £80? Yup

Features-wise, it's got bundles.

It's the cheapest Daiwa reel to be blessed with the company's Quick Drag system; has exceptional line lay; a mainline-friendly spring-loaded line clip and the type of build quality you'd expect from the Japanese experts.

We've yet to test the new Crosscast on the bank but we've had a good play with it and are genuinely impressed that Daiwa can produce something like this for the price.

The downside? Daiwa might have done itself out of sales of its more expensive reels!
