RidgeMonkey’s new bivvy has been causing a stir on social media, but what are they actually like? We’ve seen them in the flesh and have some more details to share…
RidgeMonkey has come a long way from offering just a single toastie maker. It now makes terminal tackle, mainlines and plenty of electronic gadgetry – and now bivvies!
First shown to the public at the Carp Zwolle show in the Netherlands, RidgeMonkey’s Escape XF bivvies are like nothing else you’ll see in your local tackle shop.
You can see them for yourself at The Big One show in March.
Here’s what we know so far…
RidgeMonkey Escape XF bivvy range
Based on an inner X-shaped frame, there are no poles to thread or connect together. It goes up in four steps: unfold, extend, lock, peg.
The ripstop outer fabric has a top-of-the-range 20,000mm hydrostatic head rating and there are tough YKK zips throughout.
If the weather gets really bad, you can add optional storm poles and peg out the guy ropes, and take comfort from reinforced pegging points.
Neat little touches include magnetic rod straps and attachment points for RidgeMonkey’s Bivvy Lite range.
Prices and launch dates have yet to be released, but you can take a look for yourself at The Big One show.
