Just 15 minutes after casting out on a midweek overnighter, Louis Watt hooked into this Yorkshire 50.
The fish, known as Black Spot, weighed in at 50lb 12oz at Eric’s Willows Lake near Leeds.
Incredibly, the 23-year-old refused to rest on his laurels and moved swims almost immediately after releasing the giant mirror to set up on showing fish at the other end of the lake.
The Hull angler, who works in sales at bait giants Sticky, said: “I arrived at the lake at around 7.30pm straight after work, had a quick look around and immediately found fish showing in numbers at around the 60yd mark.
“I had a quick lead around the area, clipped up to the spot in roughly 4-5ft of water and set all three rods to the same distance.”
Having catapulted three or four pouches of boilies to the spot, Louis set his lines very slack to avoid spooking the fish.
“Within 15 minutes I had a single beep on my right-hand rod and after a short battle I slipped the net under a fish known as Black Spot weighing 50lb 12oz and smashing my previous pb.
“After photos and slipping the fish back I noticed the fish had stopped showing in front of me and started showing at the other end of the lake, so I packed up and moved back on to showing fish and, using the same tactics, had two smaller mirrors.”
