Josh Goddard shot to the lake following an England World Cup game and saw this 36lb-plus linear hit the back of his net.
Josh banked the fish at his Norfolk syndicate in the wake of England’s 6-1 win against Panama after preparing a spot near a large weedbed.
He said: “After watching the England game and a big family barbecue I decided I was going to get down the lake in the late evening and squeeze in a night before having to head off to work in the morning, under the assumption that everybody will have been in the pub for the game and the lake will be quiet.”
The following morning he woke to a melting take off the spot. Josh said: “After holding steady pressure it surfaced 15yds out and just from the colour alone I knew which one it was straight away – a fish I had hook pulled at the net the previous season.”
The fish was caught on a CC Moore Pacific Tuna boilie presented over two spombs of whole, chopped and crumbed freebies.
