This rare visitor to the bank gave Jamie Peacock one of his target fish for the season.
The Nash-backed angler caught the mirror known as Steve’s Long Lost at 43lb 2oz during a weekend session on Deepings No1 in Lincolnshire.
Jamie captured the fish on film as part of his first Deeping Diaries video blog, which he has put together exclusively for Carpfeed.com
The chunky mirror, which was last caught in September last year, was part of a three-fish catch for the Peterborough angler. He also managed a 30lb mirror and a 20lb 8oz common.
Jamie told Carpfeed: “I had been fishing an area of the lake in between two islands and it had been covered in light weed, but when I arrived on Friday morning for a 48-hour session and felt the spot it was much cleaner.
“This gave me a massive boost of confidence knowing the fish had been feeding on the area.”
Jamie baited with a mix of Nashbait Key Cray and Candy Nut Crush boilies, plus Key Cray pellets, and caught the 40-pounder within two hours.
All the fish were caught on 15mm Key Cray pop-up on a slip D rig tied with a size 6 Nash Fang Twister.
