A pair of anglers caught a quarter of a lake’s stock in a 48-hour trip hailed as the venue’s “best-ever session”.

England international Ryan Need and his mate Ryan Mallon bagged 48 fish between them at Baden Hall’s Quarry Pool.

Need had 10 30s to 38lb, plus the venue’s biggest common at a spawned-out 41lb. Mallon managed 17 fish over 20lb including two 40s.

Bailiff Roy Russell told Carpfeed.com: “There’s about 200 fish in there so they had a quarter of the stock.

“It’s by far the best session on the lake. Ryan Need alone had 31 fish, beating my previous record of 21 fish in 48 hours.

“That’s a phenomenal hit. The conditions were spot on but they’re very good anglers.”

Roy added that the fish spawned about a month ago and the big females were clearly in the mood to feed.

The pair fished from pegs five and six at the Staffordshire day-ticket venue.
