Martyn Rooney watched this striking 40-pounder circle his baited area a number of times before finally picking up his rig.
The rare 40lb 6oz ghostie came shortly after dawn at a syndicate water in the south west.
Martyn said: “I arrived at the lake keen to get my rods out after being out with kids all day.
“I walked the lake at least six times thinking of my plan of attack as there were fish everywhere.
“I eventually decided and three hours after arriving the rods were in position.”
Having baited with 2kg of DNA SLK and presented Ronnie rigs with Pink Peril pop-ups over the top, Martyn retired to his bivvy.
He added: “The night was all quiet apart from the scurrying of a rat but as I woke at dawn the fish were fizzing and topping over me.
“I saw the lake’s largest resident circle the area a good five times before it eventually dropped down and the sound of a melting reel and alarm saw me do battle with the stunning ghost common.”
