Underrated tactics bring new PBs from Churn Pool

A three-night session at Churn Pool saw Lee Gittings beat his personal best twice.

The 41-year-old fished the bookable Cotswold Water Park venue and landed fish of 40lb 4oz, 38lb 10oz, 27lb 8oz and 24lb 12oz, plus two doubles.

“It was an absolutely cracking three-night session landing some cracking fish and beating my pb twice,” said the curtain waller.

The trip, which featured two double takes, began with Lee baiting with particles and using a big bunch of maggots to tempt the 24lb 12oz mirror.

He then switched to Nash Citruz wafters to land a 27lb 8oz mirror, followed by a 19-pounder and 38lb 10oz mirror at the same time.

After a 30-hour lull, Lee changed one rod to a chod rig baited with two wafters trimmed down to create a super-slow-sinking hookbait.

Another double take followed, resulting in commons of 19lb and 40lb 4oz.

“I really believe we did so well as we didn’t follow the crowd,” Lee told Carpfeed.
