An English venue has produced its fifth different 50-pounder, to an angler who’s had four of them.
Karl Baxter landed the Nunn at a top weight of 51lb from Fryerning Fisheries in Essex between Christmas and New Year.
The 44-year-old bricklayer fished the deepest part of the lake and used PVA stringers and a scattering of boilies to tempt the big mirror.
He said: “What a session! I can’t believe it. I have now had four UK 50s, all from Fryerning.”
The venue’s other 50s are the Mommon, the Boss, the Netted Fish and the Gurm, which is the lake record at 57lb 10oz.
Fryerning boss Charlie Knowles said: “This is the Nunn’s first time over the magical 50lb mark.
“In October the fish came out at 47lb 11oz and we predicted the fish to be a new 50 in 2019 – well, it happened sooner than we thought! A great end to a fantastic year!”
Ipswich angler Karl was fishing from the Right Hand Point swim alongside pal Scott Clark. Karl used Mainline Hybrid and Link boilies and fished helicopter rigs tied with Nash hooks and 25lb Korda N-trap Semi-stiff.
