A last-minute change of swims gave Samuel Jones a memorable hit at Wraysbury North Lake.
The 27-year-old was about to set up in Springate’s when he saw fish showing on the other side of the lake, so he sped round to Plateau and reaped the rewards.
The Hayes angler caught the Broken Lin at 40lb 8oz, the Swirly Tail Common at 33lb 2oz, two other twenties and a 15-pounder in his 48-hour stay.
After a quiet first night, the action began with a tench at 8.30am, before the big mirror made an appearance.
“After playing it in for a while I was thinking it was another tench,” said Samuel. “Then 15yds out its head popped up and could see it was a good mirror and my knees started knocking!
“At 40lb 8oz it was a new personal best.”
The Swirly Tail Common followed after topping up the swim with bait, and Samuel banked three more fish from five bites.
“What a session,” he said.
