“Crazy fishing” is how Richie Leat described two sessions a day apart which produced three 40s and a flurry of 30s.
The Wiltshire angler bagged two 40s in just 20 minutes at the New Forest Park before returning the next day to catch a 43-pounder and five 30s.
The first trip of the week saw Richie arriving late in the afternoon and catching the Big Common at 40lb 8oz and the Immaculate common at 41lb 8oz.
He said: ““The Immaculate Common was caught within 20 minutes of landing the big common. Two 40s before 10pm!”
Richie also managed an upper 20 that night and another fish over 20lb the following morning.
With confidence high, he returned the next day and had even more action, landing the 43lb Scar Common and the Box Common at 36lb.
“I moved to a swim called Gate as I had seen a few show on the surface there,” he said.
“It was literally half an hour before I got the first bite and the carp stayed on my spot all day.
“I baited after every two bites with seven Spombs and 20 to 40 minutes after baiting up I was having double and triple takes all afternoon. It was crazy fishing!”
Richie crushed and crumbed 5kg of Dynamite Monster Tigernut boilies mixed with Tigernut groundbait and pellets, plus Dynamite Complex T pellets soaked in Evolution oils.
He added a gallon of maggots to the mix.
The brace of 40s were caught on Monster Tigernut boilies, while the fish from the following session fell to a maggot D rig made with seven real maggots and two fake ones.
