A last-minute trip to the tidal Thames produced this clonking mirror for Kayleigh Easterbrook.
The 26lb mirror put up a fierce scrap for the novice carper, who also banked an 8lb barbel.
“Lady Luck was on my side,” Kayleigh told Carpfeed. “It was a last-minute decision to pop to Richmond Lock for a couple of hours of fishing with my boyfriend Ricky, who keeps telling he’s not taking me fishing anymore!”
Kayleigh, from Twickenham, presented a 10mm halibut pellet just four rod lengths out.
“The tide had been going out for about an hour,” said the 29-yearold care worker. “I was just flipping the hash browns on the barbecue and heard the rod scream off!
“It was a good 10-minute fight before we saw it at the surface and my heart leapt out of my mouth.
“It was an absolutely amazing adrenaline rush when we got it out.”
Kayleigh, who only caught the fishing bug a few months ago, beat her previous personal best of 12lb.
She told Carpfeed she's heading back to the river tonight.
