Most Brits looking for giant European carp generally head to France, Spain or maybe Holland and Belgium, but Scott Phillips has shown the largely untapped potential of Italy with an amazing haul.
The 33-year-old from the West Midlands caught 52 fish in a week at Parco del Brenta in the north east of the country.
Among them were three fifties to 53lb 14oz, 12 forties and 20 thirties. He also banked a 57lb 8oz sturgeon.
Scott used Sticky Manilla boilies on a little-and-often basis and was testing new RidgeMonkey beaked-point hooks in size 4, alongside the company’s mono and fluorocarbon.
