Laura Foy was left sleep deprived after a prolific session at Linear Fisheries, but she wasn’t complaining after banking her first UK 40 and a new personal best, backed up by a trio of 30s.
The Wrexham angler, who was fishing Manor Farm Lake with her partner Ben, arrived at the Oxfordshire water to find it busy, so had to bide her time before the action began.
She said: “I set up where I thought the fish would turn up as the weather was due to change the following day.
“I found a hard spot not too far out and put out a few Spombs, just enough for a couple of bites.”
After introducing a mix of whole and crushed Dynamite Baits Red Amo boilies, mini tiger nuts and hempseed, she cast a short combi rig over the top with a 12mm yellow wafter hookbait.
“It was radio silence for the first night but, as expected, with the change in weather on the second morning the fish moved in,” said Laura.
“I got off to the perfect start by catching the fish known as Spike at an impressive 40lb 8oz to provide me with my first UK 40. Ben gave me a ‘baptism by water bucket’ to celebrate!
“Next came a warrior of a common weighing 30lb 4oz, which was a real cool character and another great addition to the album, and the following morning I bagged another well-known resident in the shape of the incredible Two-Tone at 35lb 14oz!”
Laura then topped off her session by landing another solid mirror of 31lb 8oz, along with two other mid-20 mirrors and a mid-20 common.
“What a session to cherish!” she added.
“It’s the most sleep-deprived I’ve ever felt, but the rewards were amazing!”
