The woman who caught Linear Fisheries’ first day-ticket 50-pounder has banked another one of its gems.
Angie Lawley netted the Box Common from St John’s at exactly 45lb. The fish comes four years after the Linear regular made history by catching the Scar Common from Oxlease at 52lb.
The West Midlander arrived at St John’s on Monday with husband Chris Lowe and found just three empty swims.
Settling into peg one, while Chris went opposite, Angie spotted a good fish showing regularly in front of her.
“That’s where one of my rods went with a solid bag,” Angie told Carpfeed.
“At about midnight the right-hand rod was away with the solid bag in the margin, and as soon as I picked the rod up it was apparent it was a good fish.
“It was just heavy and plodding slowly, but it came in with not much fuss. As soon as I saw it I knew it was the Box Common as I'd had it before.”
On the scales, the fish went exactly 45lb.
Avid-backed Angie, who fished Sonubaits Code Red wafters and S-Pellets, added: “I also lost another that night and had one more later in the day, but it was obvious they had moved away, but that didn't matter as I was made up.”
