Returning to Hardwick Smith’s at Linear Fisheries for the first time in a decade gave Chris Morris 26 carp in 72 hours.
The 38-year-old Coventry angler managed 19 doubles, six twenties and this 32lb 4oz mirror at the popular Oxfordshire day-ticket water.
Fishing to a plateau at 88 yards, the transport planner ran out of bait after an explosive start to the session in a swim which had produced 17 fish in the previous four days.
He said: “I sorted the gear out and wrapped up to a spot I fished 10 years ago thanks to my notebook and whacked the rods out.
“A quick bucket of bait was dispatched onto the spot and the first run came within seconds of putting the spod rod down. The next 24 hours were a bit mental with 17 carp landed, including a triple take at the peak of the action.”
Almost all the bites came during the day, mainly in the afternoon.
Chris added: “As my bait stocks dwindled so the runs began to tail off, leaving me with 26 carp landed and three lost. It was nice to go back to Hardwick and even nicer to catch such a lovely scaly mirror.”
