When a week in France doesn’t produce any giants, just stop off in Kent for a mid-fifty!
That’s what Barry Goode did – driving straight from the ferry to Wingham Carp Lake and banking this 56lb 8oz mirror.
It was the 47-year-old’s first fish from the syndicate venue, making him the fourth member to have a 50-pounder as his first carp from Wingham.
The Dartford van driver said: “"It was a bigger fish than any on my week's holiday. Sometimes I wonder why I bother going to France when I have to drive past Wingham to get there!"
Barry fished a homemade boilies at 55yds to the base of a bar in 6.5ft of water.
Wingham boss Steve Burke said: “The water temperature was only 12C/54F and the fish was covered with leeches so may have just woken up.
“Both the Main Lake and Carp Lake have now done 56-pounders in just over a week."
