Anthony Jones capped a fabulous few weeks on Stoneacres by banking Kev’s Linear at a weight of 47lb.
The mirror is one of the most coveted fish in the low-stock 50-acre Oxfordshire pit and was caught from a long-range silty spot that had been baited with a mixture of boilies and hemp.
“On Sunday morning I could see a large group of birds diving on my baited area, and I thought that my chance had gone,” said Anthony.
“But at about 9am the bobbin pulled up tight, and when I picked up the rod braid started peeling off the spool.
“I quickly clambered aboard my boat and started reeling down to the fish that was sitting in weed at 160yds.
“Once I got above it I realised that there was a large weedbed attached to the line as well, which caused me major problems.
“After numerous powerful runs and a couple of failed netting attempts I eventually managed to net both the fish and weedbed together!” added Anthony, who used a homemade Mainline Cell wafter hookbait.
