Sixty nights this year without a fish and then this absolute gem arrives.
Will Edwards has been toiling hard on a southern gravel pit this year, but got his rewards on June 16 with this 44lb 4oz mirror.
The fish, known as the Random Lin, fell during a four-night stay for the 19-year-old from Andover.
“The fish was the first one I had caught this year,” he said.
“I had done about 60 nights this year on the water without a fish.”
The quantity surveyor chose to fish a gravel bar close in and baited with a total of 15kg of Sticky Bloodworm and Krill boilies soaked in hemp juice and coated in Krill Powder, plus hemp and tigers.
He added: “At around 10pm on Friday night a couple of good fish topped over the spot.
“The bite came at 4am Saturday morning. After a hard fight I knew it was a good fish and it turned out to be the Random Lin.”
Will fished 14mm Sticky Krill White Ones pop-ups on hinged stiff rigs.
