If you’re planning a trip to the South West this summer, it might be worth taking your carp tackle.
Upper Tamar Lake, on the border of Devon and Cornwall, has been in fine form, with local angler Aaron Bunning catching 27 carp in four nights.
Ben Smeeth of South West Lakes Trust, which runs the site, said: “Aaron has been in great form.
“He has landed eight mirrors and 19 commons, with the largest fish being a 23lb mirror which was stocked only a few days before he caught it. The fish has been named Single Scale.
“The biggest common was 16lb, but only five fish were under 10lb.
“Aaron also caught a 19lb 9oz mirror which he has had three times in two weeks and amazingly was the same fish he caught eight years ago at low double figures.”
All Aaron’s fish fell to Premier Baits Matrix bottom baits over matching freebies.
