Danny Martin’s yearly social with some good friends was made even more enjoyable when he caught this cracking 37lb common.
After looking around other venues Danny and his mates decided to fish Farlows Lake in Buckinghamshire and it turned out to be a great decision.
Danny said: “On arrival we set of to find some fish in the deeper end of the lake. I eventually found some colossal commons feeding in the causeway of peg one.
“As the day went on more fish turned up in the swim so I was very confident. The following morning at first light I had a savage bite on the snag rod which was positioned near where I had seen the fish.
“I got it in through the weed and over the spreader block into the net. I was buzzing because it looked like a big fish.”
The common fell to a 16mm Sticky Manilla pop-up fished on a hinged stiff rig over 1.5kg of Manilla freebies soaked in Manilla liquid.
