Keith Mccance took full advantage of a big feeding spell at Holme Fen Fishery to bank an incredible six 30s, five 40s and a 53-pounder.
In all, the Nottingham angler banked 17 fish from the Beach swim at the open-access Meadows Lake on the Cambridgeshire complex.
“It was an incredible session,” the 51-year-old told carpfeed.com. “I’m still buzzing now. It’s the best big-fish session I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to France a good few times and never had anything like it.”
The action began just two hours into Keith’s four-night stay and continued steadily throughout.
The plant operator said: “The 53-pounder came on the second day and was part of one of three double takes. I had just got a ‘36’ in the net when that rod rattled off. It was incredible.”
Keith’s fishing partner Steve Parry also got in on the act from the same swim, banking fish of 47lb and 39lb 14oz, though even when the pair swapped sides half-way through Keith continued to haul.
The fish came from the base of an island slope and from open water about 80yds out. Keith’s 40s weighed in at 48lb 4oz, 46lb 12oz, 43lb 8oz, 42lb 10oz and 42lb.
Venue boss Martin Dawson said: “It’s been another amazing week’s fishing on the Meadows with the fish having a good feed prior to spawning.
“Fish are being caught all over the lake; however, they are grouped up and hence when you’re on them there’s a good chance of hooking multiple fish over a relatively short period of time.”
Another mega haul from Holme Fen! This venue has only been open a couple of years but has already produced countless fifties up to over 60lb. It can be a moody venue leaving many anglers to blank, but if you time it right the results are explosive. It’s open to all on a booking system.
