A river normally associated with barbel – and canoeists – has produced a rare specimen carp.
Adam Lester targeted a stretch of the River Wye at Monmouth in Wales and latched into this plump common of 27lb.
The local angler said: “The carp in the Monmouth stretch of the River Wye are a very rare sight, with only a few being caught every couple of years.”
Adam, who also caught chub and barbel during his three-hour session, baited with Sticky Manilla boilies.
The 24-year-old threw a handful of the boilies into the water and presented a Manilla hookbait on a standard hair rig made with a size 6 Korda hook.
