Kyle Heesom hadn’t planned on fishing the river during the festive break, but he’s glad he did.
The 29-year-old has found a productive coldwater spot on the Trent in Nottingham and managed this 26lb 1oz common on December 29.
“I didn’t plan on fishing the Trent any time soon,” said Kyle, “but a spike in temperature meant I knew I had to jump on it – and I’m glad I did!
“This 26lb 1oz common broke my pb again, only weeks after I caught another Trent pb, a 22lb mirror from the same spot.
“That’s now four fish from the same spot since November.”
Kyle used a hinged stiff rig topped with a 15mm Nash Scopex Squid pop-up and half a 12mm Citruz pop-up over low-oil pellets and chopped boilies.
“My baiting approach was little and often, every few hours, even throughout the night,” said Kyle.
Set in Yorkshire in 1994, a British film about a group of youngsters going carp fishing will be released in cinemas next month
