A giant mirror, targeted and caught by many top anglers, has died after spawning.

Bite Mark, which was last caught this spring at 51lb 6oz, was resident in Stoneacres on the Linch Hill complex in Oxfordshire.

Linch Hill regular and former captor Scott Lloyd took to social media about the fish, writing: "To say I'm devastated is an understatement.

"This fish occupied so much of my time, effort, dreams and nightmares for many years (and many other people’s)."

 The fish was one of the most well-known in the country.

In a Facebook post, the fishery confirmed Bite Mark would be buried under a tree next to the lake.
