June 16 was a family affair for Annabel Turner – and the carp turned up too!
Fishing Essex’s River Chelmer with her husband, daughter and pet dog on the opening day of the season, the 30-year-old banked this 24lb 7oz mirror and a double-figure common.
The family, who had bumped into Nash’s Alan Blair on the same stretch the evening before, had to move swims to get among the fish.
Annabel said: “The was our first-ever family overnighter with my husband, 18-month-old daughter and Koi the carp dog.
“I woke at 6am with no action, so moved on to some carp that we found and got feeding.
“Managed to sneak an 11lb 4oz common out pretty fast, then caught this one just before taking my daughter home.”
The therapist fished in the margins with 4ins hooklinks and Nash Monster Pursuit snowman baits over 20 freebies.
She added: “Dropping the lead on the take aided the battle and helped me get it in with such thick weed in front of me.”
