A new angler-run catering van has rolled into position at one of the most popular day-ticket carp lakes in the country.
Alex Maltby is serving food to anglers at Bluebell Lakes in Northamptonshire from a van he’s called Benson’s Kitchen – a nod to the 60lb-plus common that once inhabited the complex.
Last weekend saw the van’s first outing and it will be back each Thursday to Sunday, plus bank holidays, throughout the warmer months.
Birmingham carper Alex told Carpfeed.com: “I trying to cook in the rain in my bivvy towards the end of last year thinking it would be so much easier to order food than try to climb around the stove in the bivvy.”
Benson’s Kitchen will be open between 7am and 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and until about midday on Sundays. Thursday’s opening time is 9am.
Twenty-nine-year-old Alex, who is assisted by fiancé Carla, said he hoped to offer a swim-delivery service in the future.
The current menu includes filled baguettes, burgers, jacket potatoes and side dishes like chips and onion rings.
