A nervous battle on a 12ft zig eventually brought this 39lb 5oz common to the bank as Jason Mooney banked three fish in a weekend.
Tackling the in-form New Forest Water Park, the Dorset angler had to move swims and change tactics before getting in on the action.
He said: “I started fishing on the bottom on the Friday night but had no bites.
“I realised the fish were off the bottom so on the following night I moved swims where I saw the fish topping over a deep hole.
“I fished three rods and had a scraper double and a tench in the evening. On Sunday morning I had a 23-pounder and then the 39-pounder at around 7am.
“The swim is quite snaggy so it was a nervous battle with the big fish on light zig tackle and minimal-stretch fluoro, but I managed to get it in for the photos.”
Jason presented a foam hookbait soaked in Dynamite Baits’ Tiger Nut Evolution Oil on a size 10 hook.
