One of the finest-looking mirrors in the land – the mighty Triple Row – has been banked at a weight of 51lb 6oz.
Alex West became the envy of many when he slipped his landing net under the awesome linear during a 48-hour session at Dinton Pastures’ White Swan Lake, a 24-acre former gravel pit in Berkshire.
The memorable catch was the result of employing simple watercraft skills, as Alex explained: “After a walk round the lake I spotted some bubbling in an area where I'd seen some activity on my previous trip to the venue, so I flicked a rod out onto a clean area right in the middle of where the bubbling was.”
It wasn’t long before his 12mm Sticky Krill hookbait, fished blowback style, was picked up by the huge fish, which Alex beat using a 25lb Tungskin hooklink and a JPrecision Curv Shank hook.
He set up his rig on a 3ft leadcore leader, with the lead mounted on a Thinking Anglers C-Clip, and primed the swim with a small bucket containing Sticky Bloodworm pellets, hemp, Krill powder and Wraysbury Baits particles.
