Darren Hollidge guided this near-50 into a lucky landing net after leaving his at home.
The 47-year-old arrived at Fryerning Lakes in Essex to discover he was missing the vital bit of equipment – but everything turned out for the best as he landed the Nunn at 48lb 12oz.
Venue boss Chris Knowles said: “Darren asked if he could borrow a landing net as he’d left his at home.
“One of the lads said, ‘yes, we have a lucky one here with a bit of form, it’s just landed a brace of 40s for Jim Buffoni yesterday’.
“It certainly seems to be a lucky net! Understandably, Darren was over the moon with the fish, which is a new personal best for him.”
Darren fished the Main Lake for four nights and also managed an 18lb common.
He baited with Xcel Baits boilies and fished a helicopter setup with a 3.5oz lead and RidgeMonkey RM-Tec Curved Shank hooks.
