The coveted Baby Plated from made an appearance for a first-time visitor to Linear Fisheries.
Jamie Hankins visited St John’s on the Oxfordshire complex with two mates and banked the pretty mirror at 31lb.
The 23-year-old from Harmondsworth in the Colne Valley told Carpfeed: “We arrived to a pretty full lake with only a handful of swims free.
“We grabbed our buckets and followed the warm wind to an area of the lake called the Shallows.”
The trio dropped into adjacent swims in the area after seeing a fish show itself.
Carpenter Jamie found the edge of a weedbed and baited with an initial 10 spods of pellets, corn, Mainline Power Particles and whole and chopped Starman Natural Smokie Marine boilies.
After his mate George bagged a 20lb mirror, Jamie topped up his spot with another 10 spods of bait just before dark.
He said: “The sun was beginning to set and an eerie silence began to swoop around the fishery.
“I had constant liners on both rods, shortly followed by a single croak on one of the Delks. I glanced at my rods to see the right-hand rod wrap round.
“As soon as I hit the rod I knew the fish was diving deep into the weed, hugging the bottom with all its mite!
“After 10 minutes of battling through the weed she was close to the net, but I still had no idea what was on the end.
“She came with a big ball of weed and into the net. You can imagine my reaction when my net man pulled back the weed to show me the absolute pearler that is the Baby Plated!”
Jamie fished Ronnie rigs made with size 4 Korda Krank X hooks and used neutral pop-ups soaked in Almond Goo.
