Kingfisher beauty nudges 40lb

One of the jewels of the Bluebell Lakes complex gave Jordan Dales a surprise after a subdued fight.

The 39lb 12oz mirror, known as Penny Scale, fell to the Sticky media and mar-keting assistant at Kingfisher Lake on the Northamptonshire day-ticket complex.

The 23-year-old fished short chod rigs just 20yds out down his right-hand margin and got the bite on his second night.

“I received a series of bleeps on my right-hand rod,” said Jordan. “What fol-lowed was a rather uninspiring fight leading me to think that it was a rather small fish that had his or her face masked with weed.

“But when the fish came in towards the net I could see that it was much bigger than I first thought.

“With first light only an hour away I popped the fish into the retainer in the margins to do this incredible carp every bit of justice I could when photo-graphing her.”

Jordan baited with a kilo of glugged Sticky Krill boilies and fished a matching 16mm pop-up on a short chod rig made with 25lb Korda Mouth Trap and a size 4 Korda Choddy hook.
