Linear's most famous carp has been banked for the first time in 2017.
Dan Hodgson was the happy angler to land the giant mirror, shouting, "I've got the Big Plated" as it slid into his net.
The heavily scaled mirror, which featured on Korda Underwater DVDs, weighed 44lb 2oz.
Dan said: "It wasn't till I lifted the net and saw her flanks that I realised. There was no mistaking this fish!
"I shouted out to the lads next door, 'I've got the Big Plated' and the exact words, well, I can't say, so I repeated it again!
"In disbelief they came down and we all looked at each other and couldn't believe it. The Big Plated sat in my net in her wintry glory at 44lb 2oz."
The fish was the perfect end to a tough winter for Dan.
He said: "I've been persevering over the last few months with no joy, not even seeing a single fish in about 10 nights on three different lakes.
"It is hard going and people don't hear about the blank sessions but effort always equals reward in the end."
Dan pitched up on the Inside Point swim at St John's with westerly wind blowing and a south-westerly on the way.
He said: "While looking, right on cue, I saw a fish pop its head out on the edge of the ripple, about 100 yards out.
"It wasn't much, but at this time of year generally where there's one, there's a good chance there's a few - decision made!"
Dan found a clean spot "about half the size of a bivvy" close to where the fish showed and decided to put a bottom bait and a stiff hinged rig close to it.
He continued: "The kettle was on and my feet were up, or so I thought! I was getting a few subtle one beeps on my Delks, which was a good sign indeed.
"Half an hour passed with nothing and then all of sudden the right-hand rod picked up and I was on it in a flash. It stayed deep for most of the fight and it was slowly moving around. It didn't cross my mind what fish it could be at this point as I was happy to be into my first fish of the year.
"I saw this fish come to the surface and noticed it was a good fish, but It wasn't till I lifted the net and saw her flanks that I realised. There was no mistaking this fish!"
The most-wanted mirror in the day-ticket world, the Big Plated looks fantastic here in its winter colours. Observation proved key for Dan. Spotting a subtle show was all he needed to land a winter forty. Check out our full Linear St John's guide, with map and hotspots, here.
