Josh Baker’s confidence in zigs was low – until he banked this incredible snow carp on a suspended piece of foam.
“Although not confident in them due to bad experiences in the past, I just had to get one out there,” said the Dorset angler, who caught the Random Lin from New Forest Water Park at 32lb 8oz in last week’s poor weather.
“I had a big old social planned,” added Josh, “and with the snow that came in I absolutely dreamed of having my first ever snow carp.
“The first 24 hours went by quite uneventfully and after sitting there behind motionless alarms something needed to be done!
“After hearing so much about zigs on this particular lake I just had to get one out there.
“Sure enough, no more than 30 minutes after casting out a 7ft zig with black foam soaked in CC Moore NS1 booster spray she was away!
“After a pretty slow battle and with everyone else standing around me I couldn't quite believe my eyes when I got that first glimpse of the chestnut-orange belly and mega dark back through the gin-clear water.
“There she was, Random Line at 32lb 8oz and my second ever carp on a zig. What a buzz!”
