Stu Lennox’s brolly blew away just moments before he latched into this Holme Fen chunk.

The 58lb mirror came after he had re-pegged his shelter at the windswept Cambridgeshire big-fish venue last week.

“The wind changed and grew in ferocity,” said the 33-year-old.

“An hour later my brolly caught the wind and blew away, and just after rescuing it and pegging it back down again the rod was away with this 58lb lump.”

The Buckinghamshire angler targeted an area of low-lying weed surrounded by thicker growth at 80yds.

He presented a homemade 12mm pop-up over a total of a gallon of maggots mixed with Sticky Manilla Active Mix and spodded out on a little-and-often basis.

“The session was supposed to be four nights, but I packed up after catching the fish on the second day,” added Stu, who used a low-lying hinged stiff rig made with ESP components.
