Hewitt on form at Hardwick

A hectic one-night session that ended this afternoon has given Kev Hewitt yet another Oxfordshire day-ticket haul.

The England international banked this beautiful 34lb 12oz common and seven twenties in an 11-fish hit at Hardwick/Smith’s on the Linear complex.

An absolute stunner at 34lb 12oz.

Kev, who manages Hinders tackle shop in Swindon, told Carpfeed: “I had a cracking session on Linear Fisheries’ Hardwick yesterday. I set up on Sunday morning and fished till early this afternoon [March 20], landing 11 carp in total, which included seven twenties and this stunning common at 34lb 12oz.

“I started the session by putting out eight Spombs of 10mm CC Moore Live System that had been soaked overnight in Roasted Nut Extract. In the spod mix I also included sweetcorn and roasted peanut chops – a proper nutty mix!

“Every third fish I topped up with another five or six Spombs of bait. I was fishing over light silk weed at 75 yards’ range.

“All of my fish fell to the Ronnie rig with the new ESP Curve Shanx hooks in size 6 on a Tungsten Loaded hooklength around 10ins in length.”

Oxfordshire day-ticket waters are taking a battering at the hands of Hewitt in 2017. This haul follows on from a couple of successful trips to Orchid Lake and highlights Kev's ability to get the most from his limited fishing time.
