A 24-hour session on Hardwick Smith’s produced 12 carp including a 40lb 8oz mirror for Matt Cox.
Fishing just 50yds out at the Linear Fisheries venue, the 28-year-old’s haul including six fish fish over 20lb including another mirror of 32lb 8oz.
“What a 24 hours,” said the Buckinghamshire angler. “I arrived on Friday morning and found a few fish showing in Summer Bay and decided to set up there.”
Opting to fish pop-ups in PVA bags, Matt’s first fish – an upper double – arrived just about lunch and began a period of steady action.
“At 7pm I had a slow take on the right-hand rod and after a 15-minute fight I got it in the net. I weighed the fish and it went 32lb 8oz – I was made up!
“About an hour later the same rod went again and after a long fight it was in the net. I looked at the fish and then I realised it was something bigger than the last.
“The scales went round to 40lb 8oz. I couldn't believe it, a new pb mirror – I was buzzing.”
Matt caught three more fish during the night before packing up in the morning to head to work.
He fished Deep Blue Particles NT1 pop-ups in solid bags over matching boilies, chilli hemp and corn.
