A guest session on an exclusive Kent syndicate venue produced the lake’s biggest fish at a whisker under 60lb.
Stuart Morgan had a personal best of 36lb 12oz when he was offered a chance to fish Wingham Carp Lake but ended up catching two fish over that weight.
The first, a mirror known as Black Spot, pulled the scales round to 59lb 14oz.
Wingham boss Steve Burke said: “It bottomed out his own 60lb scales and was weighed on a set of 120lb Reuben Heatons. The needle hovered on the 60lb mark, so an honest Stuart called it 59lb 14oz.”
Gillingham-based Stuart said: “Before the guest session I joked I was going to catch Black Spot, but I never expected such a dream to come true!"
The 49-year-old fished at 70yds and offered a 16mm Sticky Krill dumbbell over 25 Spombs of crumbed boilie, Krill pellets and sweetcorn.
He got the bite at 4.30pm on his second and final afternoon. The fish weeded him up four times, but slackening the line helped it swim free on each occasion.
A 36lb 14oz mirror rounded of a successful debut visit.
Wingham’s Steve Burke added: "This is Black Spot's highest-ever October weight. Goodness knows what she'll weigh in spawn next May!"
