Making the brave decision to fish on the back of an expected big wind paid off for Brian Warrick as he banked 23 carp at the Cardiff Wharf, including three 30s.
The pick of the bunch, which also included 13 20s, was this magnificent 35lb 8oz fully scaled mirror.
“I decided to get down the Wharf as I hadn't been there all year,” said the 39-year-old window fitter.
“On arrival there was three people set up down one end of the lake where the big wind was due to arrive.
“I had a look around before setting up and spotted a fish down other end of the lake to where everyone was set up, so I thought that would do me.
“I baited heavily with Nash Scopex Squid boilies on the first night but had no action till the next afternoon when it kicked off.
“In the end I landed 23 carp over the next two nights including three 30s up to 35lb 8oz and 13 20s up to 29lb 14oz.”
All the fish fell to Nash Cultured hookbaits tipped with pop-ups on 6ins Sink Link hooklinks and size 6 Twister hooks.
