Graham Stevens bagged the much sought-after Big Fully from Frimley Pit 3 on only his third night at the venue.
The fish, which Graham described as “probably the best-looking carp on the complex”, weighed in at 41lb 12oz.
The Surrey angler told Carpfeed: “It was only my third night on the venue, but I had walked and gathered enough info to make an educated guess at where I wanted to be.
“I settled in a swim called Double Boards. Seeing as recent captures had come to people doing things a bit different to everyone else on the lake, I decided to fish much shorter than most people do, at around 35 to 40 yards out.
“I had also found this to be a firmer area than the silt gullies around it."
Having baited up with about 100 boilies, Graham presented his pop-ups over the top.
He said: “The bite came in the dead of night at about 3am and took about half an hour to land. I instantly recognised the fish and to say I was buzzing was an understatement!
“This came only a couple of week after landing my first French 5os and has kicked off my winter water in style.”
