Fresh stocks for East Delph

The future looks bright for a Cambridgeshire day-ticket complex after a delivery of one-year-old stunners.

A total of 500 carp have been added to the stock ponds at East Delph Lakes in Whittlesey to grow on before being released into the complex’s Front Lake and Back Lake.

Owner James Mackay said: “These hand-picked stunners are part of a long-term fishery-management plan and have gone into stock ponds for growing on. They will be ready for the main lakes in around four or five years’ time.”

Elsewhere on the complex, the existing stock are thriving. Andrew Westrop caught this 20lb mirror during a 24-hour session on the Front Lake. The fish was stocked two summers ago at 14lb and reached the 20lb mark in November.

On the Back Lake, Terry Prill was one of four carpers from Enfield on a four-day social. He banked two twenties in a day, including this 21lb 1oz mirror on a Mainline Essential Cell wafter.
