Weeks in France don’t get much better than the one Sam Jones had at Gigantica.
The 27-year-old banked Fudgy’s at 78lb, plus an incredible six 60s.
His dream session featured the Target at 64lb, Two Time at 62lb, Giggler at 61lb 12oz and the Cut Tail Common at 60lb 8oz.
He also bagged a 40lb 8oz mirror which had never been recorded in the nine years since Danny Fairbrass took over the venue.
The Korda boss, who was also on the lake at the time, said: “Sam Jones fished superbly well on Co’s Point this week.
“He fished expertly well all week and deserved even more than he caught.”
Sam, from Hayes, fished at 100yds in 22ft of water and baited with 10kg of Sticky Krill boilies and maize on day one, casting all three rods to the same spot.
“Too many people fish rods on single spots and only nick the odd fish,” said Danny, “Sam's tactics built a hit.”
The majority of that hit came on the Tuesday night of the session when Sam banked two of his sixties, a 22lb common, a 26lb mirror and Fudgy’s at 78lb.
Sam used 8ins coated-braid blowback rigs made with size 4 Korda Wide Gape hooks on running lead clips.
His hookbaits were 20mm Krill Tuff Ones topped with 12mm pop-ups.
