Arezue Wright was made to work hard for a bite on her first trip to France, but when it eventually came it was “a fish of a lifetime”.
The Manchester angler travelled to Le Fearnes with her husband Dave, but had to endure a frustrating few days before this 66lb 5oz common made it all worthwhile.
“This was my first trip to France with the boys and I sat through strong wind, heavy rain and blanked for four days,” said Arezue.
“Having moved three times to try to get on the fish, at 4am on the Thursday my left-hand rod gave out two bleeps followed by a heavy dropback and finally I was in to my first fish.
“After a short but heavy battle I finally slipped the net under not only my first ever French carp but now my new biggest ever carp weighing a whopping 66lb 5oz.
“That well and truly made up for the long wait and all the moving about in search of just one bite.
“It truly shows how a little bit of determination, positivity and effort equals reward, and in this case a fish of a lifetime.”
Arezue also banked a smaller common later in the trip. She used a glugged CC Moore Live System wafter on a running rig made with a size 4 Fox Wide Gape hook.
The fish came from a gravel bar at 60yds over a kilo of 18mm Live System boilies.
