A group of carpers raised nearly £800 for a premature-baby ward.
Anglers associated with Premium Carp Fishing held a social weekend at the company’s Holme Fen venue and recently presented a cheque to the chosen charity.
Last week Holme Fen produced a potentially record-breaking 68lb 8oz carp.
The get-together took the form of a friendly match, which Phil Bowers won. The Suffolk angler, whose son Julian was born prematurely, presented £767 to West Suffolk Special Care Baby Unit.
The money will be used to help buy iPads for mothers in intensive care to see their new-born babies via videolink.
Steve Evans from Premium Carp Fishing said: “It makes me so proud to be part of a team who really do make a difference, not just to fishing but to many others in our community.
“We hold three or four socials a year at Holme Fen Fishery, which means each time we do a different charity gets a helping hand from TeamPCF.
“Whilst the proceeds aren’t in the millions, the money we do filter out to charities is making a difference. The picture above proves this.”
