A draw for swims can ruin a weekend in an instant, but coming out last didn’t stop Harry Pratt from banking his first British 40-pounder.
Arriving for the opening day of his Norfolk syndicate, the young star, who won Sky Sports’ Carp Wars earlier this year, Harry had a choice of just two unfancied pegs.
But all was not lost.
“After coming last out of the draw,” said Harry, “I dropped into one of the two pegs I had to choose from and instantly saw fish activity in the area.
“Just 40 minutes in I received a steady take. After weeding me up twice and finding a marginal snag, the fish eventually found its way into my net.
“A fellow member confirmed the fish as one called Pebbles, one of the lake’s most wanted!
“It was at a top weight and new personal best for me at 42lb 6oz. The fish was also my first UK 40!”
